Who We Are
WaveOne Swimming offers the most experienced instructors
in the country: national champions , United States Masters
record holders, open water champions, national level elite
triathletes, mothers, fathers, teachers and students. Our
instructors know the exhilaration of winning and the lessons
learned from failing. It is our love for swimming that keeps
us in the water day after day.

Most of all, we treasure the opportunity to share our
experience and joy of swimming with you by introducing you
to WaveOne Swimming. WaveOne's core instructors
currently coach with Curl Burke Swim Team and combine to
provide you with over 75 years of swimming, coaching and

He is founder and CEO of the United States Open Water Association
(OWSA), a non-profit, nationally established organization which provides
– in conjunction with its partner division WaveOne Swimming – swim
clinics and small group/individual coaching for open water swimmers and
triathletes. Denis also coaches for Curl Burke Swim Team.

His pool and open water training cover a broad range of topics, including
the fundamentals of swimming; stroke technique and proper body
positioning; advanced pace/interval/distance work; and open water race
preparation, safety, and sighting techniques.

Denis is an avid open water swimmer and competitor, with an
accomplished race record to include the following long-distance
achievements:
1st place: Tampa Bay 24-mile Marathon Swim (2004);
2nd place (male), 4th place (overall): 41k Lake George Marathon Swim (2007);
2nd place (male), 3rd place (overall): 28.5 mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim (2006);
1st place (age group), 5th place (overall): 5.85 mile Little Red Lighthouse Swim (2009)

Denis’ calm and approachable demeanor, combined with his motivating coaching style, have led him to be one of the top
coaches of choice for Washington, D.C.’s open water swimmers and triathletes-in-training

Alyssa Morrison

As a schooled physical therapist, Alyssa (AJ) has been helping youth,
juniors and adults improve their fitness for years. Alyssa holds a
Bachelor's of Science Degree from Syracuse University and Master's
of Business Administration (MBA with Sports Management focus) from
George Washington University. Alyssa has many years of experience
in the Montgomery County School System working with students from
elementary to high school on life and fitness skills.

Alyssa is also a certified USAT triathlon coach and personal trainer.  
She is experienced in Pitaiyo (pilates, tai chi, yoga).  Building on the
experience as a collegiate athlete in track and field, Alyssa is a
seasoned triathlete.  She was named to DC Tri Club's Elite Team in
2010 and 2011. She qualified for the 2009 and 2010 USAT Long
Course National Championships, as well as the 2010 Ironman World
Championships 70.3.  In addition, Alyssa represented Team USA at
the 2010 ITU Short-Course Dualthon World Championships in
Edinburgh, Scotland.  Alyssa was named 2010 USAT Honorable
Mention All-American for both triathlon and duathlon.  

Alyssa looks forward to sharing her knowledge and inspiring others to
put their dreams in motion.
